چکیده
Abstract We used bomb calorimetry to quantify the energy density of three Prosopium fish species endemic Bear Lake, Utah–Idaho, that we collected in 2020–2021: Lake Whitefish abyssicola, Bonneville spilonotus, and Cisco gemmifer. found mean ± standard deviation wet weight densities were 6,312 760 J/g for Whitefish; 5,301 778 4,743 443 Cisco. built linear mixed models relationships between dry matter ratio (i.e., dried a fish) all species, suggesting future samples could potentially be determined from comparisons fishes belonging these species. Our results are useful bioenergetics modeling with others related genera share similar feeding, behavior, life-history traits.

متن کاملAspen Indicator Species in Lichen Communities in the Bear River Range of Idaho and Utah
Aspen are thought to be declining in this region due to a combination of fire suppression, grazing and wildlife management practices, and potentially cool/wet climates of the past century which favor advancing conifer succession. Many scientists are concerned that aspen’s related species may also be losing habitat, thereby threatening the long-term local and regional viability of this important...
متن کاملCoexistence and origin of trophic ecotypes of pygmy whitefish, Prosopium coulterii, in a south-western Alaskan lake.
Ecologically, morphologically and genetically distinct populations within single taxa often coexist in postglacial lakes and have provided important model systems with which to investigate ecological and evolutionary processes such as niche partitioning and ecological speciation. Within the Salmonidae, these species complexes have been well studied, particularly within the Coregonus clupeaformi...
متن کاملTerminal Pleistocene Fish Remains from Homestead Cave, Utah, and Implications for Fish Biogeography in the Bonneville Basin
Eleven fish species were identified from Homestead Cave, Utah. The remains, concentrated in the lowest stratum of the deposit, were accumulated by owls between approximately 11,200 and 10,100 14C yr B.P. and likely represent fish associated with the final die-off of the Lake Bonneville fauna. Four of the species (Salvelinus confluentus, Prosopium abyssicola, Catostomus discobolus, Richardsonius...
متن کاملFactors influencing mercury accumulation in three species of forage fish from Caddo Lake, Texas, USA.
Most studies that have examined mercury (Hg) contamination of fish have focused on game species feeding near the top of the food web, while studies that examine forage fish that feed near the base of the food web are rare. We conducted a survey of Hg contamination in three species of forage fish, brook silverside (Labidesthes sicculus), threadfin shad (Dorosoma petenense) and gizzard shad (Doro...
